Ariana Grande is reacting to what appears to be an editing mistake in Vogue Japan.
A photo from the Wicked star’s, 32, photoshoot for her Jan. 26 cover story for the magazine ended up going viral after a fan allegedly re-shared it on Instagram, and it showed the singer and actress with six fingers instead of five.
The fan also shared a close-up look at the editing mistake and wrote, “who’s responsible for giving Ariana 6 fingers….” In the comments, Grande replied, “Holy s—.”

“Oh my goodness how exciting! I’ve been saying I need some extra appendages so that I can start an album! Thankful for this,” she joked.
The error has since been fixed on Vogue Japan’s official website. While Grande was able to see the humor in the photo blunder, in the accompanying article, she allows fans to see a more vulnerable side to her pop star persona.
“I feel like there have been a lot of times when I’ve been doing my best work creatively, and yet my celebrity has been louder than the work,” a teary-eyed Grande shared in the article.
“And my mom has always been here to set the record straight in my head and remind me of my worth as an artist and as a human being every time that noise has almost derailed me,” she added.
She noted that her mother, Joan Grande, wasn’t the only one who gave her “strength,” but her late grandmother Marjorie Grande (Nonna), who died at the age of 99 in 2025. She shared that she attempts “to channel her strength always” and even carries two of her lip balms everywhere she goes so she always has “a little bit of her with me.”
Grande said that after struggling for people to see her artistry for years, she is finally seeing some changes, saying, “I feel like it’s the first time in my career — between Wicked and Eternal Sunshine — when I really feel seen for my work and as an artist.”

While the actress did not earn an Oscar nomination for Wicked: For Good, she shared that she was thankful to have been considered and to be able to share that with her mother.
“Never in my life did I expect to be an Oscar-nominated actress,” she said. “I just never thought I’d be seen that way by the industry that I love. I give my life to art every minute of every day.”
“So to feel embraced back—and to share it with my mom—is so extraordinary,” she added.
