When the trend first reemerged earlier this year, I was reluctant as I wasn’t sure how they’d look on my 5-foot-5-inch frame. To my delight, I find that the kick-flare style I opted for elongates my legs and offers a cooler alternative to heavy denim. Don’t just take my word for it, though; Ariana Grande also reached for a slim-fit pair from Vince in a recent Instagram post.

Seeing that Grande is only 5-foot-2, these capris almost look like a regular pant on her. This doesn’t surprise me because even on the website’s 5-foot-10-inch model, the pants appear just slightly cropped and rest right above the ankle. I also appreciate the smooth, stretchy material and elasticized waistband. Bonus: The zipper is concealed, so it doesn’t interrupt the line of the leg.

I’m particularly fond of the kick-flare capris silhouette as it balances my figure and adds more visual interest than a straight-leg style. Although these aren’t my exact pair, they’re a close lookalike. Perks include the moisture-wicking and stretchy material, which I find particularly valuable for balmy commutes and long days at the office. In one shopper’s words, they look like trousers but “feel like yoga pants.”

Gwyneth Paltrow is another star we’ve seen wearing capris this year. Her more noticeably cropped style reminds me of this Quince pair. “The fabric is substantial enough for the office or dinner out, though they feel like leggings,” shared a reviewer. Others appreciate the subtle compression the stretchy material offers.
