Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo have started their Wicked adventures in Australia!
On Sunday, Nov. 3, the duo, who are starring in the beloved Broadway musical’s highly anticipated movie adaptation, attended the “Journey Through Oz” Tour at Sydney’s State Theatre, which celebrated the Australian premiere of the movie, as part of a global press tour.
Like her character Glinda, Grande, 31, arrived in style, dressed in a voluminous pink gown, that featured a fitted bodice and statement sleeves covered with a sheer fabric that featured sparkling detail and a full skirt. She acessorized the look with a diamond butterfly choker and diamond butterfly ring, and wore her hair tied back in a sleek ponytail with one loose curl of hair framing her face.
Erivo, 37, who plays Elphaba, departed from her character’s signature green in an elegant strapless black gown that featured a striking structured skirt that flared out at her hips. The actress and singer matched Grande with a choker of her own, a black-and-white statement piece that perfectly complemented her dress.
On the yellow brick carpet on the night (which honored, of course, the yellow brick road), the duo posed alongside their costars in the movie, including Jeff Goldblum, Ethan Slater, Marissa Bode and Jonathan Bailey.
Goldblum, 72, opted for a brown suit featuring a long tailcoat with black lapels and green silk shirt, while Bailey, 36, looked dapper in a white suit and yellow shirt.
Bode opted for a strapless light green gown that she teamed with metallic green shoes, while Grande’s boyfriend Slater, 32, wore a classic black suit with a brown shirt and darker brown tie.
The Sydney premiere comes a day after Grande and Slater were photographed arriving arm-in-arm in the Australian harbour city on Saturday, Nov. 2, while the trip itself follows Grande and Erivo’s attendance at WSJ. Magazine’s 2024 Innovator Awards, where they posed together on the red carpet.
The “We Can’t Be Friends” singer looked enchanting in a white, floral-embroidered gown from Vivienne Westwood. Erivo showed off her style in a chic gray and green look from the Erdem Spring 2025 Ready-to-Wear Collection.
At the Tuesday, Oct. 29 event, the costars, who were cast as the leads for the project back in November 2021, told PEOPLE they’ve “changed for the better” since knowing each other.
On the Friday, Nov. 1 episode of Broadway Podcast Network’s Sentimental Men podcast, Grande shared that while she did not do a chemistry read with Erivo before their casting, they made a pact to “know each other in that way, where I can just look at her and I know what she’s thinking… because without that, nothing else works.”

The two have often taken inspiration from their characters for their red carpet ensembles with Erivo attending the fourth annual Academy Museum of Motion Pictures Gala in Los Angeles on Saturday, Oct. 19, dressed in a green custom Louis Vuitton strapless gown and later changing to a emerald green rhinestone long-sleeved dress to perform.
Grande attended the event in a strapless custom Balmain 1963 couture gown with black and white polka dots.
