Sometimes the best things in life are unexpected, and that goes for purse styles, too.
Last week, Angelina Jolie, 51, was spotted carrying a roomy tote bag while running errands in Beverly Hills. And not only did it make me think of all the other times she’s reached for wear-everywhere carryalls — spoiler: it’s a lot — but it also got me thinking about just how underrated totes are while traveling.

You hate when your bag tips over, right? This top-handle gem is the solution. It has a flat bottom, so it shouldn’t fall over the second you place it down. There’s also a handy pocket on the outside where you can stash hand sanitizer, phone chargers, cash, or anything else you know you reach for often. It also comes with a crossbody strap, something my mom and I used for better weight distribution on days our bags were particularly heavy.
