Andrew Garfield and Kate Tomas have broken up.
On Saturday, Oct. 12, Tomas revealed in the comments of an Oct. 11 Instagram post that she and the We Live in Time actor, 41, split “months ago.”
A fan had asked Tomas if she was “still dating Andrew Garfield” and told her to “tell him I’m a fan of him, please.” Tomas replied, “We broke up months ago but I’m sure he will be happy to know that he is loved 🥰❤️.”
PEOPLE reached out to reps for Garfield for comment.
The Oscar nominee was first linked to the self-described philosopher and spiritual reader back in March, when they were seen holding hands on what appeared to be a double date with Phoebe Bridgers and Bo Burnham.
Garfield is intensely private about his romantic relationships. In 2021, he told Bustle that he actively chooses to keep his love life private.
“I’m not in the public eye to a great degree because I’ve designed it that way for myself,” he said at the time. “For my work, I’m fine with it, but otherwise I fight for my right for a private, personal life. My right to be ordinary. My right to be a mess. My right to be sorrowful. My right to lose, to get it wrong, to be stupid, to be a person.”
In a new interview with Esquire published on Oct. 2, Garfield once again made it clear that he has no interest in sharing details of his personal life and romantic relationships with the public.
“I have never, and I won’t ever, speak about or confirm or deny anything about my personal life with anyone, ever,” he told the outlet.
Garfield was previously linked to his Spider-Man costar Emma Stone in the 2010s. In late 2021, he began dating model Alyssa Miller, but the two broke up by April 2022, a source told PEOPLE.

In a July 2024 interview with The Sunday Times, Tomas opened up about the “misogynistic nature” of the public’s interest in her relationship with Garfield.
“It’s frustrating that no matter how accomplished or impactful a woman is, it’s always going to be more interesting if they are in a relationship with a man,” she said. “I don’t want to sit under anybody’s shadow.”
Tomas also spoke about the attention she received from paparazzi, adding, “They will take maybe 150 pictures, then they choose the four where you look worst.”

Perhaps even more frustrating, she told the U.K. outlet, was the “misogynistic nature” of the interest in her as Garfield’s girlfriend, which manifested in “criticism of how a woman looks” and “what [she] does for work.”
