In a complaint, Morissette is suing Keren Urinov on claims of extortion and fraud after she allegedly threatened to report the singer for drug trafficking

Alanis Morissette is suing her former tour manager, claiming she threatened to frame her for drug trafficking.
In court documents filed on Tuesday, Sept. 1 and obtained by PEOPLE, the Canadian singer-songwriter accused her 2025 tour manager Keren Urinov of orchestrating a “calculated blackmail campaign” against her.
“Plaintiff Alanis Morissette is the victim of a calculated blackmail campaign orchestrated by a disgruntled former tour manager,” the lawsuit reads. “Morissette will not agree to work with an incompetent blackmailer for the next 15 years or pay her a ransom under the gun.”

In the filing, Morissette, 52, and her legal team allege Keren Urinov was flagged for inspection and detained at a U.K. airport while traveling with the seven-time Grammy winner and her team for a show in Spain.
Per the lawsuit, the tour manager, who worked for her in 2025, told Morissette and her team that U.K. authorities had arrested her and issued a seizure notice claiming the bag contained marijuana and xylazine (a tranquilizer).
According to the filing, Urinov also showed officers her Israeli medical marijuana license and was released.
But following the tour, Urinov and her lawyer allegedly sent Morissette several “increasingly extortionate” letters threatening to sue.
Morissette claims that Urinov demanded that she tell British police that the drugs were hers or face a lawsuit.
In the complaint, Urinov allegedly said Morissette could put “an end to the matter” with a 15-year, full-time employment contract that would include “an income equivalent to that of a tour director with annual increases and bonuses.”
When the “Hands in My Pocket” singer refused to comply with what the complaint calls the “brazen demands,” Urinov and her lawyer allegedly responded with a letter implying she would accuse Morissette of drug trafficking.

Per the complaint, Morissette says she “reluctantly” filed the lawsuit and that she had “no choice” but to protect herself against “patently frivolous” allegations.
Morissette is suing Urinov on claims of civil extortion, fraud and negligent misrepresentation and is requesting more than $75,000 in damages.
