Mia McClain went viral last fall for refusing to cancel her Super Bowl Sunday wedding — but when Bad Bunny was announced as the halftime headliner, she knew she had to get creative.
Amid the dilemma, McClain turned to TikTok to share the news and gauge her followers’ thoughts. The video quickly went viral, racking up more than 400,000 views and hundreds of comments. Many fans suggested projecting or streaming the halftime show during the reception, while others debated the timing or questioned the unconventional wedding date.
Months later, this past Sunday, McClain and her now-husband put those suggestions into action. They projected Bad Bunny’s halftime performance on the big screen at their reception, and danced right in front of it.
She posted the video to TikTok, captioning it: “Six months ago I went viral for accidentally having a Super Bowl Sunday wedding, and y’all gave me all sorts of suggestions — from canceling to streaming the halftime show ourselves. Turns out everything happens for a reason. <3”

The video quickly went viral again, amassing over 2 million views and hundreds of comments.

For McClain, she tells PEOPLE exclusively the moment was more than just fun — it was a cultural celebration and a joyful surprise for everyone in attendance.
“I was so excited. Titi Me Preguntó is obviously such a good song to get everyone to the dance floor, so as soon as the screen lit up with the halftime show and the music started, everyone ran to the floor,” she says.
She adds that one of her favorite moments was the connection to Latin America. “This was a Venezuelan wedding, so you can imagine the energy in the room when Bad Bunny shouted out Venezuela. And obviously the wedding happening during the show surprised us the most! It was total inception. We freaked out.”
Pulling it off wasn’t without challenges.
“We couldn’t be happier with how it turned out,” McClain says. “The logistics were a challenge, so we really debated whether or not we could make it happen — weddings are on a minute-by-minute timeline, and halftime starts anytime between 8 and 8:30 p.m., not to mention the cost of hiring someone to tackle something so unconventional."
She adds, "But it was the perfect, most ‘us’ thing we could’ve done, and it literally felt like we had Bad Bunny performing at our wedding.”

The reactions of friends, family and guests made it even more memorable. Plus, the couple was even shocked themselves when they realized the singer had included a real wedding in the performance.
"There was no way we could’ve ever predicted that, and our faces show it," she says. "Our guests also went insane when they realized what was happening onscreen. After so much back-and-forth on whether our wedding date and halftime show streaming was the right choice, it felt like divine timing. It’s only been made better by knowing that the marriage onscreen was real — congratulations to the happy couple!”
McClain says she’s grateful for the overwhelmingly positive reception of both her wedding and the viral videos. “My husband and I feel like the coolest kids in the world right now. And Bad Bunny, we love you!”
