Five people were injured in a mass shooting after a Mardi Gras parade in Louisiana.
The shooting, which police described as gang-related, occurred around 7 p.m. on Sunday, March 2, after the Pepe Mardi Gras Parade in Franklinton.
Franklinton Police officers and Washington Parish Sheriff’s deputies “provided life-saving care to the victims until they were subsequently transported to area hospitals,” per a Franklinton police press release.
One of the victims is in critical condition while two remain in stable but guarded condition. The additional two victims have since been released from the hospital, police said.
Jamerian Anders, 18, was arrested on five counts of attempted first-degree murder, police said.

Anders was taken into custody at 11:40 p.m. on March 2.
“During questioning, Anders provided a voluntary, inculpatory statement in which he implicated himself in the commission of the crime(s).” the release alleges.
More arrests are potentially pending, police said.
In unrelated incidents, two juveniles were arrested for being in possession of firearms along the parade route and police came in contact with a person who was in possession of an AR-15 style rifle.
