Police are searching for a 23-year-old woman in England after she went missing nearly three days ago on a remote moorland amid freezing temperatures.
On Thursday, Feb. 20, Durham Constabulary confirmed Jenny Hall had not been seen since she left her home in the small northern English town of Tow Law just after 3 p.m. local time on Tuesday, Feb. 18, according to an updated appeal for information shared on Facebook.
Officers located Hall’s red Ford Focus car a road between the village of Eggleston and town of Stanhope on Wednesday, the post stated.
“An extensive search is taking place in the area, using specially-trained police teams and expert mountain rescue search teams, backed with air support, including HM Coastguard,” police said in the appeal.

“Jenny is a keen long-distance runner and police are additionally carrying out a wider search in the Teesdale area,” officers added, referencing the North East of England valley.
Police thanked “the public for their continuing support in the search,” and urged anybody with relevant information to contact them.
The Teesdale and Weardale Search and Mountain Rescue Team (TWSMRT) confirmed on Facebook that the team had been assisting police with the search for Hall, sharing a photo of rescuers looking around remote country paths.
“Over 30 Mountain Rescue Team members and 3 search dogs have searched over 100 miles of paths and tracks on the moors,” the team’s post read.

A callout message on the TWSMRT’s website on Thursday said, “The search in particular covered the nearby stream/river and the footpaths running out of the initial search sector.”
In a further Facebook post on Friday, Feb, 21, police added that “specialized sniffer dogs” were being “used in the area around Jenny’s last known location where her car was parked,” and that the search was focusing on running trails the missing woman frequently used.
Authorities have insisted the search is ongoing “despite the challenging weather conditions and terrain.”
“Behind the scenes, digital intelligence officers have conducted extensive inquiries into Jenny’s mobile phone, smart watch and running apps but none have yielded any results,” police said on Friday.
Local police chief inspector, Dean Haythornthwaite, shared: “We have become increasingly concerned for Jenny since she was reported missing on Tuesday and have been exploring all lines of enquiry, including dozens from members of the public,” per the latest Facebook post.
“We are focusing our search on areas we know Jenny likes to run through and we are determined to do everything we can to find her,” Haythornthwaite added. “I would like to thank everyone who is working around the clock in our search and efforts to reunite Jenny with her family.”
Police said of the missing woman, “Jenny is described as white, 6 feet tall and has very long dark hair. Her family have now confirmed she may have also been carrying a green jacket and had her hair up in a ponytail.”
Durham Constabulary and the TWSMRT didn’t immediately respond when contacted by PEOPLE for additional information.
