Two popular travel steamers sold online have been recalled after dozens of reports of burn injuries.
About 75,400 PurSteam Elite Travel Steamers and 119,000 PurSteam Mighty Lil Steamers were recalled on Feb. 5, according to a press release from the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission.
According to the notice, the products are known to “expel hot water from the steam nozzle during use, posing a serious burn hazard to consumers.”
The department states that between December 2020 and 2024, there were 80 reports of hot water being expelled from the PurSteam Elite Travel Steamer model PS-510, including 14 reports of burn injuries.

For the PurSteam Mighty Lil Steamer model PS-550, there were 392 reports of hot water being expelled during the same time period, leading to 40 reports of burn injuries. Two of those incidents were marked as second-degree burns.
The notice states both products were sold online through Pursteam.com, Amazon.com and Walmart.com. The PurSteam Elite Travel Steamer model PS-510 was sold between December 2020 and April 2025 for between about $15 and $35. The PurSteam Mighty Lil Steamer model PS-550 sold between about $11 and $30 from December 2020 to January 2024.
The white PurSteam Elite Travel Steamer features a triangular-shaped opening for the steam vents. The “PurStream” logo is printed below a wave-shaped window looking into the water tank. The impacted model number, “Model: PS-510,” is printed on the label on the bottom of the product.
Meanwhile the white PurSteam Mighty Lil Steamer uses an oblong-shaped opening for the vents. The product uses a label on the bottom that reads “Model: PS 550.”
Consumers who have purchased the recalled products are instructed to stop using the steamers immediately and visit recall.pursteam.com to submit a recall request. Customers will be required to provide their contact information and upload a photo of the steamer with its power cord cut to prove destruction.
To file a claim, consumers must provide their contact information; product information, including model number and date code; a photo of the destroyed product; and a receipt, if available.
The company is only offering refunds, as a replacement option is not available at this time. According to PurSteam’s recall page, it may take up to four weeks to receive a refund.

Even if a consumer hasn’t had a problem with their steamer, they are instructed to immediately stop their use and submit a recall request.
To identify if a product has been recalled, locate a manufacture date located on the label on the bottom of the product.
