A Las Vegas hit-and-run has left two people with life-threatening injuries, including a toddler.
The incident happened at approximately 7:35 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 8, when Gabin Caci, 28, allegedly failed to stay in his lane while driving his grey 2026 Tesla Model Y near the intersection of Harmon Avenue and Audrie Lane, Sheriff Kevin McMahill of the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department Traffic Bureau said in a Monday, Feb. 9 press release.
The collision involved two vehicles and one family of three. The other driver was identified as Yurdenia Velazco-Hernandez, 35, police said.
Both Caci and Velazco-Hernandez, who was stopped at a red light in a 2024 Chevrolet Trax, are Las Vegas residents.
At the time of impact, Caci’s Tesla hit the SUV from behind on the vehicle’s right side, “redirecting the Tesla onto the south sidewalk traveling eastbound.”
This caused Caci to make physical contact with a family of three, who were visiting from the U.K., as they waited for the crosswalk signal on the sidewalk. The family included a 38-year-old man, a 32-year-old female and their 2-year-old child.
The family members' names were not released, but McMahill said that the woman and the child she was pushing in a stroller sustained life-threatening injuries. The unidentified male and Velazco-Hernandez both suffered minor injuries.
Emergency Medical Services responded to the scene immediately. The pedestrians were transported and admitted to the University Medical Center Trauma Center.
Caci allegedly fled the scene, but a witness followed him, with Caci eventually stopping in a Topgolf parking lot at 4627 Koval Lane.
Caci was the only one involved in the crash who did not sustain any injuries, police said.
Authorities with the LVMP said the 28-year-old showed signs of impairment, and was subsequently booked for applicable DUI and hit-and-run charges.
Caci was charged with two counts of driving under the influence of alcohol and/or a controlled or prohibited substance, resulting in substantial bodily harm.
He was also charged with two counts of reckless driving, which also resulted in substantial bodily harm, plus four counts of failing to stop at the scene of an accident.

In order to have more time to review the facts, Caci’s attorney requested that the case be continued, 8 News Now reported. The motion was approved.
Caci will remain in custody with no bail until his next court date, which is scheduled for Feb. 11. PEOPLE was unable to locate contact information for Caci's attorney.
The LVMPD Collision Investigation Section is investigating the incident.
