U.S. Marshals said the children were taken by their mother

- The U.S. Marshals Service said two children, who were first reported missing in Redmond, Wash., in December 2023, were located safely in Virginia
- Authorities said the children were found safely on Sept. 16, nearly three years after they first went missing and returned to their father
- The Marshals Service said the children’s mother had taken the kids after losing custody and “concealed their names in an attempt to evade law enforcement”
Two Washington children considered “critically missing” by authorities since 2023 were located across the country in Virginia.
The U.S. Marshals Service said the children were first reported missing in Redmond, Wash., in December 2023.
The Marshals were contacted in August 2026 and were asked to assist both the Redmond Police Department and the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC).
It was then learned that the children were in the Washington, D.C., area.

“It was determined that the children’s mother had taken them after losing custody and concealed their names in an attempt to evade law enforcement,” the Marshals Service said.
On Sept. 16, the children were safely located in Virginia and returned to their father’s custody.
Authorities have not said if any charges were filed in connection with the case.
