A group of amusement parkgoers was stuck on a roller coaster at Wonderland Amusement Park in Amarillo, Texas, on Aug. 1.
The amusement park was celebrating its 75th anniversary when its Texas Tornado roller coaster stopped while 18 riders were on board, according to a park statement.
The riders were safely evacuated with assistance from the Amarillo Fire Department (AFD). The AFD brought three engines and a ladder truck to the site and used the aerial ladder to remove the riders from the coaster, ABC 7 reports.
Wonderland reported no injuries. However, the AFD reported that Amarillo Medical Services evaluated one person. It remains unclear if that person was transported to a local hospital, per ABC 7.
The Texas Tornado ride has been closed, and the park is investigating the cause of the malfunction to complete any needed repairs. “The safety of our guests and team members is always our highest priority,” the park said.
